OUR SERVICES - All things irrigation
Design
We survey proposed irrigation areas using highly accurate equipment to generate exact topographical maps. Our SABI accredited designers use these maps and our sophisticated computer software to generate the most practical, efficient and cost effective irrigation system designs..
Supply
We stock a wide range of spares and equipment for new systems, upgrades, maintenance and repairs for all types of irrigation and water related projects.
Installation
We offer turnkey installation services at competitive rates for all water associated systems. Repairs and maintenance of all irrigation equipment is also carried out by our experienced technicians.
PRODUCTS
Micro sprinkler irrigation is commonly used in, but not limited to, the under tree irrigation of orchards of macadamia nuts, pecan nuts, citrus and avocados. Micro sprinklers are also often hung from a suspended pipe under shade cloth, in green houses and in tunnels.
On steep and undulating lands pressure compensated micro sprinklers are used to ensure a uniform discharge of water.
We stock a wide range of micro sprinklers including Netafim Gyro, Agriplas Gulf, Microjet and Rainjet.
Drip Irrigation is used on many crops, such as vegetables, berries, grapes, sugar cane and tree crops. Drip can be used on the surface or buried depending on the application. Drippers are also available with a pressure compensated option for steep and undulating areas.
Dripper pipe consists of LDPE pipe with dripper emitters installed in the pipe during the manufacture process. The emitter usually consists of a small screen to block dirt and a labyrinth which slows and regulates the flow of water through the emitter.
Katif drippers are small drippers that can be inserted anywhere into LDPE pipe walls. They are flow regulated and are especially useful where drippers must be installed with uneven spacing.
Button drippers are normally used in nurseries where plants are in bags or pots. They are inserted into LDPE pipe walls on site by the installer. A manifold that clips onto the dripper outlet can be used to direct water into a number of small tubes from 1 up to as many as 8. At the end of each small tube a flow equalising drip peg is commonly inserted to direct the flow to where the water is required.
Center pivots irrigate as they rotate in a circle around a central pivot point. Their biggest advantages are labour saving and efficiency of water application. Pivots are capable of, not only applying water, but also fertilizer and other chemicals. This versatility improves economic efficiency by using a single piece of machinery to perform several functions. Thereby also reducing soil compaction and labour costs. Center pivots are used on many different crops including pastures, maize, sugar cane, wheat and potatoes. Towable pivots can service multiple irrigated circles thus reducing per hectare capital costs.
Dragline irrigation consists of a sprinkler on a stand attached to a flexible hosepipe. It is labour intensive. Sprinklers are moved to different positions manually saving on capital costs. Commonly a sprinkler will be moved to 5 positions on a dragline pipe before the hose is moved and attached to a new riser pipe. In a typical dragline irrigation system a sprinkler will move between 3 risers resulting in 15 stand positions with one sprinkler effectively servicing the same area that 15 sprinklers would cover in a solid set system. Hose pipes and sprinkler stands can also be moved between fields. There are many combinations of sprinkler types and nozzle sizes, different height stands and different length hoses to suit any size land and most crops
A farm irrigated with a solid set sprinkler system has enough pipe, sprinklers and valves so that the sprinkler laterals are not moved during or between irrigation events. Different zones are opened and closed using permanent valves. Pipes can be buried or installed on the surface so that they can be moved to simplify land preparation.
Self propelled travelling sprinklers are an convenient way to water larger areas without the need to constantly move smaller sprinklers. They provide an even distribution of water to large areas of land, making them ideal for pastures, sugarcane, maize and sports fields. The basic working of a traveling sprinkler is to power a simple transmission with water flow which winds up the hose or a steel cable and pulls the sprinkler through the field while it is spraying.
